I am astonished that the coyote lived! The little guy even got away with only scratches! Incredible!

I see that there are some bleeding hearts commenting here. Grow a pair!

Joshua - Yeah, maybe they should have stopped, but to what end? 99.99999999% of the time, the wildlife will be dead or running off. There is nothing to do but see the damage. This was a bit of a freak occurance.

"What if it was a child?" Jesus, are you serious? Do you honestly think that a child would have been wandering out on the interstate, at night, in the middle of nowhere, with a pack of coyotes. You sir, are an idiot.

John - You should hang out with Joshua. Maybe you can start another animal rights group. Hippie.

Yes, it is unlikely but not impossible for an animal to be shoved into that area without being badly hurt. I have put a full white-tail inside the engine bay of my truck before. They did nothing wrong, though i know i would have checked out all damages. The outcome would have been the same if they pulled over.

Have fun debating idiots! I hope you don't have children that are as ignorant and narrow-minded as you! :-)

This sounds fishy and unlikely that this animal was struck at that rate of speed and suffored no injuries Physics = dosen't add up. But to the unlikely chance this was real..... FUCK the people who struck this animal and didn't even stop to see the damage THEY caused. They even proceded to drive and fill up twice before they bothered to look at any damage. Scew them for being such assholes! Next time I run someone over I'll make sure to let they suffor for hours before attending to the problem. What would they be saying if it was a person "oh I knew I hit something but didn't know what it was cause I was a huge tool and didn't check it out."

In response to Joshua and Dan,

I'm gonna have to disagree. A child's life is not the same as a coyote's life. A coyote is an animal, a child is a human. I will say that if I am in a residential area and I hit an animal such as a dog or dare I say a cat, I hate cats, I would stop and try to find out whose it was as family pets often are parts of the family as my dog is like a child to me. I guess I just wanted to clarify, as much as I treasure my dog's life, if he was hit by a car by accident I don't think the person should be brought up on vehicular homicide charges as I would think someone hitting a child should be.

I think it's sad that they didn't stop. Not only did they remove the Coyote from it's living area they just assumed that it was dead. Only callous people refuse to stop when they hit something. What if it had been a child? Would they have stopped then?

Since there is no difference between a Coyote's life and a humans life what they did was deplorable. I'm just glad that the coyote survived this horrible situation.
